Since our early years at school, we deal with stereotypes and label people based on different criteria. Whether we talk about gender, culture, or religion, it can happen that people directly attribute different characteristics or behaviours to others, depending on the group that they are part of.
Students in Problem-Based Learning classrooms have had the same experience of either being stereotyped, or stereotyping others. Cultural stereotypes brought into PBL groups hinder the inner workings of the group.
